Design and Technology-Where can I get materials

January 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I would love a dollar for every Design and Technology Student who has asked me where can I purchase a “………………” . Often the student has not done sufficent research or is lazy.

The other question which is asked is “I can only buy a 3 metre length and its going to cost $XYX and I need only 300mm for my Design Project. What should I do?

Well two hints here; perhaps you can team up with other students who can share the cost or if its a metal of some type, a visit to a scrap metal dealer may yield good results for a small outlay.

More hints and tips are in my eBook. Grab a copy for only $19.95

Signage and Sea World

January 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

At a recent visit to Sea World on the Gold Coast I could not help but notice the great signage around the various attractions in the theme park. Designed to ensure people to the park understand vital information. Design and Technology Students can use this as an example of how to communicate.

Many HSC students are marked down because in the early stages of the project failed to plan how they where going to display their finished Major Design Project. Signage should not be a last minute “thing”.

It should be planned as part of the overall project from day one.

For more practical advice, why not purchase my Design and Technology eBook?

Happy reading and bye for now
