Experiments-Do not throw them away

November 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Once the project starts you naturally will experiment with samples and materials. If after testing something does not work, do not throw away the samples!

Relevant test pieces and experiments also need to be documented and displayed to demonstrate processes you have undertaken.

A hand-written diary may seem  sometimes  as a low-tech approach but it is a very powerfull and useful tool in showing the development of your MDP.

good luck for 2009 HSC

Setting up your MDP for the HSC Markers

August 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have had a lot of emails about many aspects of students projects from ‘how to set out the folio’ to ‘the best methods of displaying projects’. These aspects are fully covered in a section of the eBook.

Can I say this!

Keep your cool you are almost there ;the goal is in sight.

Most people have said they are flat out on the folio and the MD Project and have not even thought about how they will set up.

Force yourself to sit down and reinvent the project. What do i mean?

When you first had the dream of manufacturing the project you are working on, you had a million ideas, use those ideas to think about how you will sell the concept to the markers. For example if you have the better bed for emergencies dress the space with information to set the scene.

Keep your head down and working hard.

all the best

Thank you for your comments about the Design and TechnologyeBook

June 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My intention when I originally wrote the eBook was to put practical information in the hands of students. Information about how to avoid the mistakes other people have made, how best to display your project for marking.

One teacher from overseas who purchased the eBook put it this way in an email to me ” when it comes to practical information on how to display your MDP there is nothing to assist students. Keep up the find work and look forward to more from you”. I really appreciate this feedback folks.

Design and Technology -HSC students are you ready?

May 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

If you are a Design and Technology student you should start and think about how you will best display your Major Design Project. Have you asked your D& T Teacher how much space will be available per student and where will you be required to display the project for the markers?
